- The Center for Coastal Studies, located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, is an independent, nonprofit institution dedicated to research, conservation, and public education for the coastal and marine environments. These activities are conducted under a federal letter of authorization from NOAA Fisheries.
Since 1984, the Center for Coastal Studies has disentangled many large whales using a technique developed by Center staff. The Center is the only organization on the East Coast that performs this service.
